Pine Forest Country Club
It can be argued that South Carolina was the birthplace of modern golf.  That might explain the reason some of the best golfing you can find is right here in the lowcountry.  Pine Forest Country Club had it's begginings as is one of the oldest golf courses in South Carolina.  Located in Summerville it is a challenging course for any golfer whether you are a beginner or a long time golfer. Nestled in Summerville, SC among Carolina pines, Live oaks, and Dogwoods sits the “The Club” at Pine Forest. The championship course, rated four stars by Golf Digest, is reminiscent of Pinehurst, NC. The course was built on the site of the Hunt club grounds for the historic Pine Forest Inn. The Inn was one of the great resorts of the late 19th and early 20th centuries and featured one of the earliest golf courses in the United States.
The golf course has recently enjoyed significant renovations and has the reputation as the areas most challenging 18 holes of golf. New owners, PGA Professionals Marty Mikesell and Tom Lenz operate the facility on a daily basis and are intent on offering an experience that demands a return visit.
